Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is misunderstood and often misdiagnosed. Many times, people will describe themselves as "OCD" as if the term is an adjective. In reality, this mental health concern is marked by persistent thoughts that are difficult to control and which have a negative impact on functioning. It is much more than just liking things organized or having a "tidy personality". For many people with OCD, it is debilitating and embarrassing.
