Treatment for Depression

Here are some examples of what depression can look like in a person's life:

  • Difficulty enjoying things, even things you used to enjoy.
  • Low energy or motivation.
  • Excessive sadness, agitation, or irritability.
  • Feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness.
  • Suicidal thoughts or behaviors.
  • Difficulty concentrating or focusing.

At my practice, I have made it easy for you to discuss what has brought you to counseling and express your feelings. When it comes to depression, there are many evidenced-based treatments we can use to restore the joy and love for life that you once had.

There are a number of factors that contribute to a person experiencing clinically depressive symptoms. Research shows that some people are genetically predisposed to depression. However, environmental context always plays a role. Together, we will consider your life as a whole so that we are not reducing your symptoms down to one thing.

How Therapy Can Help

  • Improve your self-image.
  • Resolve past and presence issues that contribute to depression.
  • Reduce negative self-talk and behaviors.
  • Build upon current strengths.
  • Challenge unhelpful thinking patterns that contribute to depression.
  • Determine strategies for a healthier, more satisfying future.

How Therapy Works

Depression is debilitating. Therapists use various methods to help patients recover from it. To learn more about my approach to treating depression, refer to the CBT Approach page of this website. Reach out today for more information.

Those who have a 'why' can bear almost any 'how'.
