Solution-Focused Therapy, or Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is centered on finding what works, and sticking with it. Rather than approaching therapy from a problem-centric lens, this method addresses life from things that are most likely to help. Essentially, we ask, what is going to help most? And then, we do more and more of that.
Solution-Focused Therapy is intended to be done in brief intervals. However, it can have a lasting effect over the course of a person's life, treating a variety of issues:
Solution-Focused Therapy challenges patients to engage with their lives in manageable ways. It focuses on exploring and amplifying what is already working well in their lives, aiming to achieve rapid and lasting change. By shifting the focus from problems to solutions, SFBT helps clients identify their preferred future and develop practical strategies to move towards it. This approach empowers patients to build on their existing strengths, cultivate resilience, and unlock their potential for positive transformation.
