Not at all. Everyone needs help now and then. I will help you explore and identify your strengths while we reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.
A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way, teach you researched-based skills, and listen to you without judgment.
Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing your business.”
Lastly, some people find that they begin avoiding close friends and family that they have previously confided in so that they are not reminded of difficult times in their life. Working with a professional can help avoid this.
Medication can be effective, but it alone cannot solve all issues. Sometimes, medication is helpful in conjunction with counseling. However, using medication without therapy to treat clinical distress has been demonstrated to be no more effective than an active placebo.
Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs. However, I am always glad to explain the direction we are headed and answer any questions you may have.
The course of treatment can be affected by your goals, your commitment, and the any other factors that have brought you to counseling. Often, patients report noticeable improvement after 4-6 sessions.
At this time, I am unable to accept insurance for service. I may be able to provide you a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, but it is up to your insurance company as to whether they will.
It can feel overwhelming to reach out for help. I am here to help every step of the way. Call or email today to get started.
