Frequently Asked Questions

Is therapy for crazy people?

I feel like I’m constantly overthinking things—can therapy help?

Yes! Overthinking can be exhausting and make it hard to trust your own decisions. Therapy provides a space to untangle those thoughts, understand the patterns behind them, and learn ways to respond differently.

How often should I come to therapy?

This depends on your needs. Most people come weekly, while others attend biweekly or schedule occasional check-ins. We can discuss what makes the most sense for you as we go.

Medication versus therapy

Why shouldn’t I just take medication?

Medication can be effective, but it alone cannot solve all issues. Often, medication is helpful in conjunction with counseling. Other times, researchers have identified psychiatric medication being no more helpful than an active placebo when used without therapy.

Does therapy work?

What happens in a therapy session?

Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs. Feel free to reach out for a free consultation and we can talk more about your particular situation.

How long does therapy take?

How long will it take?

The course of treatment can be affected by your goals, your commitment, and the any other factors that have brought you to counseling. Often, patients report noticeable improvement after 6-8 sessions.

Do you take insurance?

I am paneled with a few insurance companies through Headway. If I cannot accept your insurance, I can offer you a "superbill" for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, but it is up to your insurance company as to whether they will.
